Armed robbery in Old Trafford
A MAN armed with a knife stole money from an off licence in Old Trafford.
The offender walked into Freddy's Food and Booze on Moss Lane West carrying a knife.
The man pointed the knife at the shop owner in a threatening manner and demanded money.
He then approached the counter and the shop owner, in fear, backed away. The offender then stole from the till and walked out of the store.
The offender is described as a black man aged between 20 and 30-years-old, about 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in tall and of slim build. He was said to have cropped black hair, was wearing black clothes and had a scarf with a white diamond print that was used as a mask.
Detective Constable Gerard Hollywood, of Stretford CID, said: "By carrying and brandishing a dangerous weapon, the offender was prepared to use violence to achieve his goal, and that threat of violence caused the shop owner a great deal of distress. Luckily, he was not physically hurt.
"I would to appeal to anyone who may have seen the man fitting the description entering or leaving the shop at about the time of the robbery to come forward and help us with our inquiry."
Anyone with information about the incident, which occurred at about 2.40pm on Thursday March 13, is asked to call Stretford CID on 0161 856 9168 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
