THESE imposing buildings could soon dominate the skyline of the 'gateway' into Trafford, if an ambitious scheme gets the go-ahead.
The two landmark towers would front onto the Bridgewater Canal In Old Trafford.
The canalside complex - to be called Stratum - includes six buildings of varying heights, including these towers.
The buildings, which will range in height from five to 37 storeys, will house a mix of offices, flats, a 190-bed hotel and leisure and retail units.
The design is intended to enhance the surrounding area and continue the success story of nearby Salford Quays, while providing a new landmark for the borough.
Developer Howard Holdings believes that the scheme will attract new businesses, retailers and residents.
Proposals also include a new public square where people can sit and enjoy views over the canal and towards Old Trafford. It is envisaged that the scheme will act as a catalyst for further development of the waterfront.
Will Banks, development surveyor of Howard Holdings, said: "By transforming a once semi-derelict industrial area into a thriving and highly sought-after residential and business address, this scheme continues the tradition for transformation and renewal that has defined Trafford and Salford Quays in recent years.
"Stratum will create a new landmark with a recognisable sense of place which will help to generate an exciting new community. The functions of the various buildings provide a vital mix to ensure a positive life:work balance."
