New start date for chief constable

Greater Manchester Police Authority has announced new chief constable Peter Fahy will take up his position on September 1.
Deputy chief executive Russell Bernstein said: “This is earlier than the expected date of November 1 and I would like to thank Cheshire Police Authority members for all their support in this process. I hope people will agree moving ahead of schedule in this way is logical as it allows both authorities to concentrate on the business of establishing a new leader to take their respective forces forward at the earliest opportunity.”
