Lotto winners pitch in to celebrate

A football-loving couple are cheering from the terraces after winning £2,630,225 of National Lottery prize money.

John and Jackie Livesley, from Stoke-on-Trent, walked out on the turf at the home of their beloved Stoke City football club to toast their jackpot win in Saturday's Lotto draw.

Life-long fans of the Premiership club, Mr and Mrs Livesley matched all six balls drawn at the weekend, after playing the Lottery for 14 years, and were met by photographers and journalists as they celebrated at the 27,500 capacity Britannia Stadium.

But Mrs Livesley, 52, insisted it would not change them.

The service officer for the Probation Service said she had no plans to leave her job anytime soon as she described the moment they realised they had won - the day after the draw.

She said she never checked their tickets on Saturday night, instead leaving it until the Sunday morning, adding: "I'd been cleaning the kitchen floor and needed a break. I put the kettle on for a coffee and checked Teletext. I looked, looked and looked again before shouting out for John.

"You have to do it four, five, six times, and then you start to shake.

"John was having a lie-in as he was working night. He ran into the living room thinking something was up and then calmly confirmed we'd matched all six numbers."

Mr Livesley, a 46-year-old warehouse team leader, said they had not made extravagant purchases so far, but admitted he had his eye on a few luxuries.

"I'm going to start test-driving a few cars. A Land Rover Sport - Mr Clarkson says it's a very good car."
