A sign of the times

EACH year, for the 38 years we have lived on Davyhulme Road East, we have either participated or watched the parade pass by our home on its way to the cenotaph on Remembrance Day and never to my knowledge has there been any accidents caused by it doing so.

Suddenly, this year it seems the police are so worried about parked cars causing accidents (the reason given to the organisers for re-routing the parade) that it is no longer allowed to march along either our road or Moss Road.

Well so far they have so far shown singular unconcern about the amount of parked cars on our and Moss rd. (often across the bus stop) that have nothing to do with the parade.

Or been worried about the presence of so many parked buses and large vans which are far more likely to cause accidents for people trying to cross the road. Or is this just the starting move of curtailing yet another British tradition.

I think your right. If it related to any other countries religious beliefs or even sexuality (gay, lesbian) we would be bending over backwards - no pun intended there on the gay theme!
