Why weren't funds invested earlier?

5:11pm Monday 5th January 2009

NOW the people have had their say in a resounding no to the tif/c-charge debate, isn’t it time for those so-called civic leaders to resign? The failed ‘yes’ camp are now asking the ‘no’ campaigners to think about a plan b! Why hadn’t they been adventurous and done that already? They have had more than 16 years to steadily invest locally-raised funds to improve all of the public transport.

Dog owners need educating

9:50am Tuesday 16th December 2008

AS a local resident and parent of a child who walks to a local school I am absolutely furious with the amount of dog mess that is constantly found on the pavements near and around Urmston junior and infant schools. Each day you have to negotiate the piles of poo left by dogs and their inconsiderate and irresponsible owners. I am fed up with having to remove it from either my daughter's shoes or from the wheels of the pram before entering my house. Perhaps the dog owners would like to do it for me? Probably not, but they do need educating on how to be a responsible pet owner and how to clean up after their dogs!

Traditional transport shutdown over Christmas

10:50am Tuesday 9th December 2008

I AM glad that Rick 'frozen feet' Bowen survived our so-called public transport services. ( Letters 4th Dec;) However, if he intends to travel over the coming 'festive season' I do hope he has a stout pair of hiking boots handy. As tradition has it, and unlike our more enlightened European neighbours, our public transport all but shuts down over Christmas and New Year.
